The Troutman law firm was founded in 2022 in Orange County, CA by Eric J Troutman after many years of practicing law at some of the nation's largest law firms. Eric is known as one of the country’s prominent class action defense lawyers and is nationally recognized in Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) litigation and compliance. In Addition to TCPA litigation and compliance, the Troutman firm also leads defense teams in complex litigation, representing financial institutions in consumer finance litigation matters. With experience representing clients in UCC, TILA, RESPA FCRA, CCRA, CLRA, FDCPA, RFDCPA, and FCCPA claims, as well as in fraud and bank operations issues.

While many firms now tout TCPA expertise, Eric built one of the country’s first TCPA-only defense teams at an AM LAW firm and began serving as national TCPA counsel for his clients nearly a decade ago.

Indeed, Eric first at multinational law firms and now with his team at the Troutman firm build TCPA-compliant systems and processes for some of the country's largest and most complex corporate entities. Working with in-house compliance counsel to build and implement enterprise and business-line specific TCPA solutions,  Eric and his team perform TCPA audits and drafts and review proposed TCPA policies and procedures.  Eric's team at the Troutman firm has the technical expertise necessary to assist call centers seeking to develop TCPA-resistant call path architecture or to modify existing telephony and software integration to better insulate companies from potential TCPA exposure.

Troutman has long been a leader in defending high stakes class litigation—particularly those suits brought under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA). He has served as lead defense counsel in over 350 national class actions brought under the TCPA alone, and is widely regarded as one of the most experienced complex litigators in the nation. Yet, he is somehow even better known as a legal writer—one who has published thousands of articles providing guidance on legal issues to help other lawyers to improve their craft.
